How Jackie O annoyed Masked Singer bosses
Jackie O has revealed what she did to upset producers on The Masked Singer.
The KIIS FM radio star is on the judging panel of the Channel 10 show along with Dannii Minogue, Hughesy and Urzila Carlson.
Speaking to news.com.au, Jackie explained that the producers would prefer the judges don't correctly guess the identity of the masked singers.
"They really don't want us to guess," she said. "Producers are so terrified of us guessing, so they do make it hard for us."
Jackie O last week correctly picked that it was tennis star Mark Philippoussis hiding behind the Echidna mask, and the producers weren't happy about it.
"I did get a call the next day saying, 'Tell me honestly, did you somehow know he was on the show?' I said, 'No! I swear to you. I knew from the clue package it would be a sportsperson and what I did is I googled famous Australian sportspeople and I saw his picture come up and I looked into him.'
"I think they were a little thrown that I got that one," she said.
One person Jackie O and the rest of the judging panel certainly didn't pick was Michael Bevan who was unveiled as the Hammerhead on Tuesday night.
Viewers couldn't believe their eyes when the cricket champ pulled off his mask, and Jackie O was just as shocked.
"I'm not big on cricket, so I'm never going to be name checking cricket people unless it's Shane Warne," she told news.com.au. "They're my favourite reveals though, the ones that no one has name checked once."
But did Jackie actually recognise who he was once he removed his costume?
"Yeah, I did," she said. "I know Michael Bevan, well, I know his face, but I don't really know much else about him," she laughed.
JACKIE DEFENDS SILLY GUESSES
Jackie O and Dannii Minogue appear to be taking the game more seriously than Hughesy and Urzila Carlson.
The latter two have thrown out some truly ridiculous guesses so far including Taylor Swift and the Cash Cow.
"I think the most important thing on the panel is just to have an open mind," she said in defence of her comedian co-stars. "I mean, I know Taylor Swift is never gonna be on the show; we all know that. But I love that Hughesy has that belief.
"The thing is with Masked Singer, you've got to always keep your options open," she said. "When you just constantly say the same name each week, it's going to be very boring for people.
"It's part of the fun to go, 'I think it's this person but who else can it be?' And then you start to think, 'Actually, it's not the original person I was thinking, it's the other one.'"
The Masked Singer continues on Monday night at 7.30pm on Channel 10
