How to satisfy their warring tastebuds

HOLIDAY meal times are always difficult in my experience.

One child wants nachos, one wants pancakes and another wants steak, fish and chips or a pizza. Arguments ensue, hair is torn out (mine), tears start to flow and we spend hours walking along reading each restaurant's menu in turn, hoping to find somewhere that's going to please every member of the family.

Sound familiar? And exhausting? But the rumbling bellies must be fed. In Surfers we found that Pancakes on the Rocks has a range of meals - yes, not just pancakes - and it's an Australian restaurant that started in Sydney.

The all-day breakfast is highly recommended for those who happen to sleep in. But another popular choice is the marinated and grilled ribs that absolutely melt in your mouth and are served with the crispiest potato wedges you'll ever order.

Pancakes are definitely a speciality and come in sweet or savoury, vanilla or chocolate and as thin crepes or thick pancakes. If you're feeling naughty, try the Devil's Delight - chocolate pancakes with strawberries, cream and chocolate ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. And it's even licensed so you can order a wine or liqueur coffee while the kids have a smoothie, juice or soft drink.
