How to show the love
GUYS, if you're sick of giving the staple roses and chockies for Valentine's Day - read on.
While most girls certainly wouldn't argue against such a gift, they would also gladly welcome a gift that shows a bit of thought on your behalf.
The thing to bear in mind when gift-giving for that special girl is she just wants to be pampered.
Which is where Isis Beauty and Spa comes into it.
Owner Jodie Balfour says while Valentine's Day may be thought of as a commercial event, it was significant.
"I think people get too busy these days, so these are excuses to stop and spoil each other," she said.
"Some of the ladies have trouble thinking they're worth it. They look after the family first and they're last. I think it's great for men to think, 'Yes, I might stop and get some flowers or beauty treatment to say thanks'."
Mrs Balfour said any men stuck for gift ideas could heed the advice that women love to be pampered.
"If they're not sure exactly what they like, generally you're pretty safe if you get a massage or facial, or even pedicure," she said.
"If they're still not 100% they can get a voucher."
Mrs Balfour said it had been "pretty constant" in the lead-up to February 14, with men snapping up vouchers.
In the spirit of Valentine's Day, the business owner is hosting a competition on her Facebook page, asking people to share their most romantic experiences.
The one selected as the best story will win a massage and a facial.
"There's a couple up but there's not many. Most people are a bit shy," she said.
