Huge support for Malakhai

SHE'S the fitness blogger with a social media following to dwarf those of celebrities, and she has used her high profile to raise awareness of for a little Warwick battler facing the fight of his life.

Gold Coast fitness guru Ashy Bines shared the link of Malakhai Riley's GoFundMe page to social media last week.

Malakhai has Niemann-Pick Type A, an incurable disorder which stores fat in the liver and spleen, causing damage to organs and the nervous system.

Sufferers have a life expectancy of less than three years.

Bines's move amazed many close to the brave one-year-old, including his mother Cassie Lamos.

"A good friend of mine's niece posted the link to Ashy Bines,” Miss Lamos said.

"I was gobsmacked by it. It was just fantastic.

"I was very emotional over it, and it made me cry when I watched it.”

The generosity doesn't stop there, with Miss Lamos's family contacting Darren Compton, a group performer at the NRL grand final.

The group said they would donate their pay from the event to the cause.

Miss Lamos said these kind gestures helped to raise the profile of her son's battle.

"A lot more people are showing their support and emotion towards the cause,” she said.

"Being put out there to the public has meant more people have come on board.

"People are finding different ways to try and help.

"Even the thoughts and prayers people have written on the page have been fantastic.

"All donations no matter how big or small have been so helpful.

"I can't thank everybody enough.”

Miss Lamos said Malakhai was showing more pain in regards to his nerves and legs.

"The hospital has jumped back on board and (is) giving him a dose of medication and pain relief at night time.

"It's a bit of a trial at the moment to find the right one.

"His breathing has become a little bit more intense, and he will continue to use a nasal gastric tube until we can get the feeding button in.

"We're trying in every way to stay positive and making sure he is comfortable.”

So far over $5100 has been raised, which will help Miss Lamos with hospital, medical and other costs.
