THE Yangan community celebrated the arrival of Christmas in classic Aussie style last night.

After some carols from the Yangan School Choir, Santa arrived, on the back of wagon being hauled my Mick Bradford's heavy horses.

Organising committee member Haleigh Maag said the evening was a fundraiser for the Yangan School of Arts and Yangan Sportsgrounds Associations.

"This is the first time we've done this and I'm so pleased at the turnout," she said.

"We generally hold a raffle every month at the pub but this is something a little special for Christmas.

"We started organising this a few weeks ago and spruiked it heavily on Facebook and it's a great crowd."

Mrs Maag said they really wanted to have the faces of the Yangan community involved.

"So we got Mick Bradford on board and Kylie and Bob Friend from the pub who do so much for the community," she said.

"Kylie has put on the free face-painting and balloon animals, which have been very popular.

"We've got a sausage sizzle on to feed everyone and of course the kids are loving meeting Santa.

"We're really lucky to have such a close knit community like we do."
