Hugh's XI burst through into cricket semis

CRICKET: The Hugh's XI team has been the surprise packet of the 2018 Condamine Sports Club Warwick Australia Day Cricket Carnival.

Hugh's XI includes police from Warwick and as far as Dalby along with firie Brett Farrell.

They won both their games on day 1 and played well again on Saturday to make it today's semi against Bears/Small's XI at Slade Park.

Summers have qualified for the final after playing in the most exciting game of the carnival, a 172 runs a side tie at Allora.

Last year, Stunned Mullets beat Hulk's XI in the final but the same teams won't be in this year's finals, only one will advance as they meet in a semi which started at 9am Sunday.

The two winning teams with highest winning margins will proceed to the competitive grand final at Slade Park at 1.30pm today.

Five of the last games of the day were washed out on Saturday with players helping with covering the turf pitches to ensure games start on time today.
