Police wait for specialist kit to continue search

UPDATE: THE search for Bradley Smith in bushland at Elbow Valley was temporarily halted as police and emergency services wait for specialist resources to access remote pockets of the area.

Parts of the search area need climbing and repelling equipment to reach, while others are only accessible through nearby farms and police require the landholders' permission before they can proceed.

A QPS spokesman said officers were following up with hospitals and business outside of the Southern Downs in an effort to track Mr Smith.

They are appealing to the public to help locate the man.

Bradley Smith was reported missing on April 23 after failing to return home to Nanango from the Rabbits Eat Lettuce music festival at Elbow Valley on Tuesday April 23.

He is described as about 175cm tall with a solid build, fair complexion, blue eyes, a beard and long, dark-brown hair that is usually tied in a pony tail.

Police have coordinated an air and land search of the area however so far have not located Mr Smith. About 80 SES and police officers were involved in the search over the past week. Preliminary investigations indicate he may have left the festival and been travelling on foot.

1PM: POLICE have scaled down the search and rescue operation to locate a 37-year-old man reported missing near Warwick who has been missing for more than a week.

Preliminary investigations indicate he may have left the festival and been travelling on foot.

Although the search and rescue operation has been scaled down, police are continuing to appeal for information to help locate Mr Smith.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have interacted with Mr Smith at the music festival, or who may have taken pictures of him to contact them.
