Hunting for treasure in Yangan

FROM families to car clubs, the line-up of competitors for the Yangan Treasure Hunt this weekend is set to be strong.

Comprising of 85km, the treasure hunt will take car loads of competitors on a wild goose chase around some of the best scenery on the Southern Downs.

Organised by the Yangan and District Progress Association, the treasure hunt will raise money for BUSHkids and the Yangan Tennis Club.

Organiser Colin Pope said there had been plenty of interest in the event.

"It's not a race - the treasure hunt should not be finished in under an hour and a half," he said.

"If they go too fast it means they'll have missed the clues.

"There are questions to answer and things to find."

It's hoped the event will raise $2000.

A number of prizes have been donated by local sponsors, with extra donations and sponsors more than welcome.

The treasure hunt will begin at 10.30am from the Yangan Hotel, with registrations open from 8am.

The cost to compete is $5 per person, with a $5 barbecue breakfast also available on the day.

There will also be entertainment later in the day by DJ Vince.

The Yangan and District Progress Association will also be having a sausage sizzle at the IGA on Saturday.
