Hurricanes plan comes up short in BBL final
HOWZAT with Michael Bourke
THE short Hobart Hurricanes plan in the BBL grand final against Adelaide Strikers came up short with a Strikers win.
You didn't have to be a rocket scientist to work out that the Hurricanes bowlers' plan to bowl short deliveries against players like Jake Weatherald and Travis Head with the short square boundaries in Adelaide was not likely to work.
The Hobart plan was for D'arcy Short to win the game with his aggressive batting; however the full length bowling of Peter Siddle and Ben Laughlin put a stop to that.
Gabba Graveyard
INDIA has avoided a Test match against Australia at the Gabba next season.
This comes as no surprise as the Gabba has become a graveyard to visiting teams with the Aussies winning Test match after Test match at the Gabba since the great West Indies teams visited in the 1980s.
Instead next season's Test Match will be played against Sri Lanka, who will possibly also struggle on the bouncy hard wicket where square of the wicket cricket shots are required to score your runs.
The Gabba is also a fantastic venue to watch cricket. Living on the Southern Downs, we can drive down and back from Warwick in a day.
