I can't wait for the polocrosse Test matches at Morgan Pk

SPORTSVIEW with Gerard Walsh

I DON'T think I have looked forward to a sporting event as much as this week's polocrosse internationals at Morgan Park.

In World Cup sport, there are the games between the top nations and then some lopsided affairs.

But tonight and on Friday and Saturday nights, it will be action between the best in the world, Australia and South Africa.

Looking back to the two World Cups in town, it was interesting how some Warwick residents didn't go in 2003 and then went in 2007 and loved it.

This week's games are a great chance to get a feel for what will happen in 2019 when the World Cup is back in town.

Australia has thousands of players while the numbers in South Africa are in the hundreds but it only takes six or seven to win a Test match. So if you want quality sport on your own doorstep, it is here in Warwick this week.

What a thrill

I ALWAYS have an Australian swimmer I love to watch due to their dedication/battles and now it is Holly Barratt, the West Australian who has made her first national team at age 29.

She retired from 18 to 24 and went to the nationals last weekend without any great hopes and now is on her way to the world championships and hopefully next year's Commonwealth Games. Holly replaces the retired Bronte Barratt, this one a Queensland Olympic medallist, as my favourite.
