I do (x 3) for this tight-knit family
SOME people have difficulty remembering their anniversaries but not former Warwick residents Jean and William Nicholls who share their special day with both their daughter Charmaine Renaud and her in-laws Norm and Jean Renaud.
The same wedding date, same wedding time, same honeymoon destination and the same mothers' given names.
On May 29 this year both couples celebrated their 60th anniversary, while Barry and Charmaine celebrated their 32nd.
"We can't really forget if it's happening for everyone," Charmaine's husband Barry Renaud said.
It was originally Barry's idea to be married the same day as both sets of parents on May 29, 1982.
"The coincidence was there, once we worked out the Saturday fell on that day we thought why not," he said.
Jean and William Nicholls, who met in Warwick, were pleased to be part of the tradition.
"We were married in the Warwick Lutheran Church on Albion Street in 1954, I can still remember how the confetti fell here," Jean said outside the same church on her diamond anniversary.
William also has fond memories of his wedding day in Warwick 60 years ago.
"I was walking down the aisle and Jean winked at me, she has been treating me like a joke ever since," he laughed.
On that very same day Barry's parents, Jean Wright and Norman Renaud, were wed in Toowoomba.
Both couples travelled to Brisbane by train for their honeymoon shortly after the ceremony. However despite their similarities both couples didn't meet until years later when Barry was courting Charmaine.
"We used to call him Speedy because he would rip down the road to the house," William laughed about his son in-law.
Last weekend all three couples celebrated the anniversaries together at a low-key morning tea in Toowoomba.
