Cullen takes out top lamb prize
AFTER “the best show” of Prime Lambs seen at the Warwick Showgrounds Ian Cullen was surprised to take out the top prize with his lamb for the second year in a row.
It was snapped up quickly after winning the Supreme Champion prize by Carey Brothers Butchery for the excellent price of $162.
“This is the best show I’ve ever seen in Warwick. Every lamb is of top quality it was a very good feeling to win,” Mr Cullen said.
The judge Neville Fanning congratulated all the exhibitors and said every lamb deserved a prize.
“It was a very difficult job. It is a credit to the producers... the quality of the lambs is at the top of the line,” Mr Fanning said.
There was more supremacy in the sheep area with Ken Eley from The Glen having a great show being awarded with 18 awards for his good quality fleeces.
“I was over the moon to win, it’s great,” Mr Eley said.
“It’s my second year in the Warwick Show. It’s a great show with good competition.”
Chief steward Michael Welsh said the numbers were down this year due to the bad seasons with 66 fleeces.
“It was a clear winner. An outstanding fleece would have done well at any show,” Mr Welsh said.
