OPINION: In awe of the spirit and strength of Emily

WHEN I chatted with Emily Tapp this week, I couldn't help but be in awe of so much about her.

As a teenager she was dealt a cruel blow when the sport she loved changed her life.

Thrown from her horse during a campdrafting competition, 19-year-old Emily was left without the use of her legs.

Although I am sure that was an extremely difficult part of her life, Emily truly made the most of a horrible situation.

Instead of letting her paralysis force her into a sedentary lifestyle, she used it as a force to push her body to new heights and she discovered a hidden passion and talent for triathlons.

As she now heads into the paratriathlon world championships in the United States, Emily is the fittest and strongest she has ever been.

When you listen to her speak about the sport she clearly loves and has a raw talent for, it is impossible to not be inspired.

Inspired by her fierce determination to master her sport; inspired by her passion for life; and inspired by her ability to turn a horrific situation into a dream.

I have no doubt we are going to see great things from Emily and I look forward to see her standing on the podium at the Rio Games next year.

And if anyone is keen on sponsoring this awesome young woman, give me a call on 4660 1315.
