‘In shock’: Warwick club left heartbroken after buggy theft
HARDWORKING members of the Warwick District Dirt and Bike Club have spoken of their disappointment after their brand new medical vehicle was stolen by thieves over the weekend.
According to club treasurer Sarah Williams, members went out on Saturday to do some maintenance work when they discovered the item, which had been fully locked and secured with other vehicles, was stolen.
The Yamaha Viking was only purchased in February to help the club escort paramedics and emergency services to injured riders on the track.
“Without that now, we have no way to get out to the track,” Ms Williams said.
“It really hurts because we put so much into running the club for our members and anyone who wants to come out. It’s really disappointing they feel they have the right to something we need so badly.”
The approximate street value of the brand-new vehicle is $19,749.00.
With many residents already sharing around the information, Ms Williams just hoped any one who knew more about the crime would come forward.
“We’ve never had anything like this happen before,” she said.
“What hurts us most is that club is run by volunteers who spend endless hours to provide this place.
“If any one notices anything, a new Viking in a paddock, shed, or saw a vehicle, contact Police or the club.
