Inglewood go to BRL lead from Tigers and Cutters

RUGBY LEAGUE: Killarney beat Stanthorpe 20-16 in the Border Rugby League game at Charlie Andrews Oval on Saturday.

It was by far the best performance all season by the Stanthorpe Gremlins.

Killarney co-coach Ray Wagner said his side was boosted by the return of Brett Watts who played off the bench in the back row.

"When we needed some big runs or big hits, Brett put in, our forward pack went well again with Jacob Hoffman and Brett Humphrey again playing well,” Wagner said.

"The Gremlins had a strong forward pack and they all ran hard with the ball.”

Watts was the players' player for Killarney.

This weekend, the Outback carnival is being played at Ilfracombe and Killarney has three players making the trip with the South West Stockmen, the Watts brothers Brett and Jamie, and Ian Brown. Brent Osborne and Brent Hearne from Inglewood are also in the team.

Jacob Polzin (Killarney) and Brendan Sauverain (Inglewood) are in the South West Country U20 team to play this weekend.

In the other BRL game, Inglewood beat Tenterfield 46-14 at the Macintyre Sports Complex.

TABLE: Inglewood 9, Tenterfield 8, Killarney 7, Stanthorpe 0.
