Inglewood wins the Border Rugby League pre season

RUGBY LEAGUE:Border Rugby League president Norm Crisp is hopeful everything will fall into place in the next 10 days after only three teams played in the league round robin on Saturday.

Premiers Inglewood won the round robin when they beat Killarney 28-0 in the final game of the day at Inglewood.

In earlier games, Inglewood beat Stanthorpe 22-4 and Killarney beat Stanthorpe 16-12.

Tenterfield withdraw at the start of the round robin after not enough players travelled to Inglewood for a day of rugby league. Some Tenterfield players joined up with Stanthorpe to play .

Jamie Meddings, Brent Hearne and Brett Osborne from the Inglewood club were the three standout players on the day.

The game was a selection trial for the Border Bushrangers team to play in the South West trials at Miles on April 8. The team will be named later this week.

Inglewood captain-coach Brent Osborne will be captain-coach of the Bushrangers team.

BRL president Norm Crisp said he would looking for commitments from all clubs about their plans for the 2017 season.

"Wallangarra need more players to field a men's team but I believe Tenterfield will have enough players for a men's team but are struggling to field a women's leaguetag team,” he said.

"Stanthorpe is working hard to firm up its numbers while Inglewood and Killarney have the numbers to field men's teams this season.”

Tenterfield has never lost a leaguetag game in three seasons in the Border Rugby League.
