Injured walker airlifted

A 63-YEAR-OLD man was airlifted from Spring Creek to the Gold Coast Hospital in a serious condition at 4pm yesterday.

The Beenleigh man was part of a guided bushwalking group.

He was injured about 9.30am.

The RACQ helicopter was sent to the scene, about 30kms north of Killarney, about noon along with Killarney First Responders, Boonah Ambulance and Killarney Police.

RACQ CareFlight air crewman Luke Pagano said it was believed the patient was at the back of a walking group when he fell, suffering a suspected head injury.

“Our CareFlight doctor intubated the man, placing him in an induced coma which stabilised him for flight.

“The patient was then stretchered out to the waiting helicopter,” he said.
