Interest building for run

RUNNING: Anticipation is building for the Warwick Pentath-Run, with the event just under six weeks away.

The run will feature five events over two days: the Warwick Daily News Half Marathon, Darling Downs Hotel "X" Country, Warwick Credit Union 5km Road Race, Nike Robina Ascent and Voyage Fitness 1500m.

Warwick Pentath-Run president Karen Gilchrist said the event was building each year.

"This is our 12th year and the numbers are just above last year's," Gilchrist said.

"The event has continued to grow progressively. We're all very excited about it."

Gilchrist said the event was great for socialising.

"It's a great weekend," she said. "It's very sociable and you get to meet a lot of people.

"It's also really good for fitness."

Gilchrist said the event was mainly about participation.

"There will be elite athletes there wanting to do their best but people can also choose to walk if they want to," she said. "We just want participation and people getting involved."
