International side to April polocrosse
THE Australian World Cup polocrosse team will be in Warwick on April 17-19 to play against Australian development teams as part of its preparation for the cup in South Africa in July this year.
The team will include two Queensland players, Trent Collins (Tansey) and Lauren Cant (Cunningham).
Cant is from Western Australia but moved to Queensland for the second half of last season and is still in the sunshine state this season.
The cup team also includes captain Jane Cooper, Lizzy Lyster (both WA) and vice-captain Abbott Grills, Lucy Grills, Will Weston, Jim Grills (all NSW).
The Australian team games at the carnival will be part of training under national coach Troy Henry (Albury-Holbrook), assistant coach Kent Wells (Warwick) and manager Carolyn Garland (Coffs Harbour) in the run-up to the trip to South Africa.
The games between Australian and development teams on April 17-19 will be in conjunction with the Barastoc Interstate Series.
There will be 20 teams from New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria playing in the interstate series and 70 are expected to play in the Shell Cup club carnival at the same time.
