Garterbelts gal finds pin-up pageant a gas

IPSWICH'S Louise Geoghegan has been named Miss Garterbelts and Gasoline 2013 in the rockabilly event of the year.

The 23-year-old from One Mile last weekend won the prominent pin-up pageant held annually at Mt Tamborine.

A privacy officer for Ipswich City Council during the week, Ms Geoghegan has tuned her 1950s persona with the sobriquet, Cleo DeFleur, on the weekends.

The self-proclaimed vintage enthusiast took out the title after winning the Miss Diamond Cut Pin-Up Pageant in September.

She is now training as a line-up girl for the Willowbank Drags since signing with her agency, Avenging Angel Industries, 12 months ago.

"I enjoy the whole pin-up, retro, vintage lifestyle," Ms Geoghegan said.

"(Fifties-inspired fashions) can be so flattering for all body types and the confidence it gives you is great. It accentuates the figure a lot better than modern-day clothing."

She said the pin-up phenomenon was growing in Ipswich through modelling and community work with charities, events and businesses.
