Isaac Lucas clutches player of the match for Angus Bowles

THE youngest of the four Lucas footballing brothers won the player of the match award for Lew Cooper's XI in a 30-run victory against the Maryvale team in a game to raise funds to help eight-year-old Maryvale boy Angus Bowles who needs medical treatment in America.

Isaac Lucas is the only one of the four boys still at school and took 3-19 off five overs to curtail a Maryvale team which was 3-184 in pursuit of the Lew Cooper XI score of 277.

Matt Walls was player of the match for Maryvale hitting long and hard for 42 retired and Jason Steketee hit 41 retired.

Walls and fellow opener Jordan Siebenhausen withstood an opening attack including Bulls and Heat pace bowler Nick Buchanan.

Nick has a reputation as a handy batsman and earlier in the day retired after hitting 43, including an attempted six over mid on off the first ball he received. He had the chance to share batting time with his father John, a former Australian coach.

The Lew Cooper XI was captained by former Test wicketkeeper Ian Healy who kept wickets along with son Tom and former Warwick player Brad Murphy and son Christian.
