Isaac ready to fly Warwick High footy flag

COWBOYS forward Isaac Chaffey will play for Darling Downs in a fourth state carnival when he lines up for the open schoolboys side in the state championships starting tomorrow at Arana Hills.

Chaffey played all his junior footy at Eastern Suburbs and was in the second row when the Hornets beat Goondiwindi in last season's Warwick and District Junior Rugby League under-16 grand final.

He first played for Darling Downs at primary school level in 11 and 12 years teams when a student at Killarney State School.

Now at Warwick State High School, he made the regional team when in year 10 and again this year.

In the 15 years carnival at Wynnum Manly, he was the leading try scorer for Darling Downs playing centre.

He has played in one carnival for the South-west Mustangs, the U14 team in state championships at Kawana Waters.

Chaffey has been struggling with a hamstring injury but is fit for the championships.

Throughout his career, he has played in the back row or at centre but has been predominately used in the forwards by Cowboys U18 coach Trent Achilles.

Chaffey is the only Southern Downs player in the Darling Downs team.

Assumption College deputy principal Craig Frattini is the Darling Downs open coach this year.
