Fun of the run

IT isn't all about winning at the Six-banger Nationals/Bracket Attack at Warwick Dragway, it's just the fun of the run.

Burpengary driver Todd Rutledge turned up in an immaculate FJ Holden panel van with a Holden EJ motor at the weekend.

While some drivers suggested he might record the slowest time, Rutledge was ecstatic to drive on Warwick Dragway.

"I've never done this before, my best pass so far is 12.07 seconds," he said.

Rutledge didn't have racing slicks, just road tyres he uses inBrisbane. He wasn't prepared to risk breaking an axle on the drive to Warwick so brought his shiny Holden up on the back of a trailer.

In the bracket meeting on Saturday, junior dragster driver Matt Loy was the sole Warwick winner. Tracy Mullins was second in street. Jayson Leotta was the fastest qualifier in super street.

Winners:

Super street Neil Tschutura (Ironbark), quick ET Randall Mohr (Roma), JD Matt Loy (Warwick), street Bruce Self (Ipswich), bike Mark Woods (Dorrigo). Fastest qualifiers: Street Jeff Cooper, modified Warren Sichter, super sedan Ian Coombe, bike Clinton Swalling, modified bike Mark Woods, JD Kiah Curling, super street Jayson Leotta. The VW Nationals are on October 1-2.
