'It makes me sad whenever I see it'

A WARWICK senior has taken pen to paper to express her disgust over an act of animal cruelty.

Margaret Miller, 87, is a long-time animal lover and still loves feeding the birds at her home near Leslie Park.

But Mrs Miller said she had been shaken by a magpie she found in her yard with its feet bound together.

"About a month ago I was out feeding the birds and this little magpie was just hopping along,” she said.

"When I looked closer I saw it was tied up with wire.

"It can still hop along and fly but it may not be able to fend for itself.

"I don't know who did this but I feel very sad whenever I see it.”

Mrs Miller said she was sad no one had been able to free the bird.

"It's timid and flies away,” she said.

"Someone did try to catch it with a small net but it didn't work.

"I have a pusher chair to walk so I can't catch it.

"I just think whoever did this is a very low person, their day will come.”
