It might be hot but it didn't dint the enthusiasm of bowlers

IT MIGHT have been a hot Sunday but that didn't stop the men of Southern Cross Bowls Club starting the A-grade club championships today.

The competition is elimination so the 16 who started in the championships were reduced to eight by late morning.

Depending on the availability of players, some more knockout games were played today and there will be more next weekend with the championship final likely to be in a fortnight.

Club president Dave Scotney said the winner would earn the right to go in the district champion of champions competition.

The temperature reached 34.3 degrees at 3.20pm Sunday but was expected to go up to 35, 37 and 39 degrees in the next three days. The maximum on Thursday will drop to 33 degrees.
