It was neck and neck in ladies golf matchplay

IT TOOK three play-off holes to determine the winner of the Warwick Golf Club Ladies Single Matchplay Knockout final on Sunday.

Marg Adcock and Patsy McIntosh were square after 18 holes and it wasn't until the 3rd in a play-off that Adcock sank her putt to win by one.

Adcock led after the first two holes but once McIntosh hit her straps, the margin was square or one up for the rest of the handicap event.

McIntosh had the better of the second nine and was either one up or square from the 9th to what turned out to be the 21st.

Adcock squared it on the 16th and there were not parted to the 21st.

It was the first win in matchplay for Adcock since it became an honour board event and the first final for McIntosh.

Both players had already won honour board events, their latest wins were the Medal of Medals for Adcock in 2014 and for McIntosh, the B-grade club championship.

The event was held over two weekends with the final four making it to the second weekend.

McIntosh made the final with a win on the 18th from Carol Brandon while Adcock beat Judy Lester on the 18th.

The other four to make it to the top eight were Yvonne Pinington, Jan Maher, Jackie Millard and Annice Payne.
