NEW South Wales open polocrosse player Will Weston isn't prepared to write any of the opposition off as he approaches the start of the Barastoc Polocrosse Nationals at Morgan Park on Monday.
Weston and Lance Anderson played for Australia in last year's World Cup and will be joined in the New South Wales team by four players with Test experience.
"You don't want to go into a game if you are not confident," Weston said.
Five of the NSW team played in a men's open victory in the Ballarat Nationals in 2010. Quirindi pair Bernie Smith and Hayden Turnbull are the additions this year and both have Test experience.
Weston expects to play number 2 or 3 for NSW and sees the nationals as a first step to pushing for selection in the national team for the 2015 World Cup.
"We want to win the cup back," Weston said.
"The nationals are the pinnacle of polocrosse in Australia. Everyone will be on their best horses.
"Players in form will definitely put their names forward for next time."
Weston said the New South Wales men played at the Lake George carnival a month ago and in the Euro Coast carnival at Moruya last weekend to prepare for the nationals.
He will arrive at Morgan Park on Saturday from the Jugiong area, 90 minutes drive from Wagga Wagga.
