It's crunch time for the Cowboys this Sunday
RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick Cowboys coach Craig Mullaly believes his side has to contain Highfields in the middle at Father Ranger Oval at 2.30pm Sunday to have any chance to secure a top-six playoff in Toowoomba Rugby League A-grade.
The Warwick way to finals footy is not easy: Win at home this Sunday, hope Gatton beat Souths and then line up in a three-way playoff battle for the sixth finals spot next week.
Valleys have made it to the grand final in recent years from a playoff so nothing is impossible for a committed group of 17 footballers.
"We can definitely beat Highfields,” Mullaly said.
Despite a loss to premiership favourites Valleys last Sunday, Mullaly took some positives out of the game.
"We had a bad 20 minutes but only just lost the second half, which is promising looking forward to this week,” he said.
Most of the injured Warwick A-graders won't be back this week, apart from back rower/centre Dion Galloway.
In some games this season, Dion has combined in the centres with his younger brother Dylan, another player who has battled injury.
Warwick is also in a must-win situation in reserve grade but if they win and Souths lose this weekend, the team will only have one playoff next week to secure sixth spot.
The Warwick U18s are still a mathematical chance of clinching a vital top-two spot with a win, although they will be relying on Wattles to defeat Valleys and Gatton to account for Southern Suburbs.
Second division has a bye this weekend, as they prepare for the finals next week.
