Drivers urged to avoid fuel stations charging too much
GLADSTONE drivers are being urged to avoid Gladstone fuel stations that charge too much for fuel this weekend, to send a message about high prices.
The Observer reported today that fuel prices in Gladstone are up to 15 cents a litre too high, according to the RACQ.
And Gladstone resident Ken Rogers, who has recently returned from a road trip to Toowoomba, said it was time to boycott service stations because Gladstone's prices were the highest he had seen.
The call has been heard by Sherri-Lea Sanders, who has suggested people head to Boyne/Tannum for a play this weekend, and fill up before heading back.
In a post on Facebook page Gladstone Open Discussion, she said Gladstone and Calliope fuel prices were "disgustingly overpriced, and we have all put up with it for too long".
"I for one am sick of the whinging but no changes," she wrote.
"I propose this weekend that no-one fills up in Gladstone or Calliope, and instead we all use Boyne Island.
"It's called people power. They want to rip us off, but we can send them broke.
"But not just this weekend. Let's keep it going until fuel prices are where they are supposed to be."

Meanwhile, Federal Member for Flynn Ken O'Dowd has called on petrol retailers not to engage in price gouging over the holiday period.
"Prices should reflect market conditions, and the holiday period should not be used as an excuse to increase profit margins," Mr O'Dowd said.
"Despite crude oil prices dropping 20 per cents per litre since June to a four-year low, the pump prices have only dropped by up to 15 cents per litre.
"I'd also encourage consumers to shop around. That is the best way to send a message to retailers that opportunistic pricing will not be tolerated."
