Jumpers and brollys for festival

RAIN and thunderstorms are predicted for the first few days of the Jumpers and Jazz in July Festival but it should be fine for the weekend's events.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Brett Harrison said there would be rain about today.

"There will be showers and a possible thunderstorm," he said.

Mr Harrison said temperatures were expected to be much warmer than earlier in the week.

The mercury was expected to fall to six degrees before climbing to 16.

This is just above the month's average minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees and just below the month's average maximum of 17.4.

Mr Harrison said the bureau was not expecting much wind around today or tomorrow.

"Thursday will bring some showers as well and will also have a minimum of six degrees and a maximum of 16," he said.

The rain should move on by the weekend, ushering in perfect weather for kicking back and enjoying the jazz music.

"Friday and Saturday will be mostly fine and sunny," Mr Harrison said.

"The winds might pick up on Friday afternoon.

"There will be an early frost on both days."
