It's the right time to get away
AS WE approach the new year, the temptation to pack your bags and forget about the real world grows stronger.
Finding the right destination can be a struggle at times, however, there are places combining value, affordability and excitement.
Helloworld Stanthorpe travel consultant Lauren Tulloch said there were a host of potential spots open to people of all ages.
For those people who can't sit still on their breaks and love a sense of adventure, Miss Tulloch said visiting our neighbours across the ditch is the ideal destination.
"It's the perfect time to head to New Zealand,” Miss Tulloch said.
"Summer temperatures in the South Island are pleasant and it's the perfect time to check out the amazing lakes and gorges.
"They also have extended daylight hours in the South which is perfect to fit in all of those great summer activities like jet boating, white water rafting, fishing, swimming and much more.
"It's the perfect place to take a road trip or jump on some great last minute deals on guided tours.”
If relaxation is closer to your style, Miss Tulloch said a cruise to the scenic Pacific Islands fits the bill.
"There are some good deals on cruising at the moment,” she said.
"Although it's quite a hot and humid time to travel out to the Pacific Islands, they have some great deals coming out as it's not a very popular time to travel due to the heat.
"If it's too hot, guests can always escape to the indoors of the cruise ships, which have fantastic air-conditioning, or sit by the pool with a refreshing drink.”
If you want to stay in Australia, Miss Tulloch recommends taking a trip down south.
"A great place just under three hours' flight from Brisbane is Tasmania,” she said.
"It's always a little cooler down south and if you head there towards the end of the holidays they still have a great range of accommodation and activities available.”
