Jason Newell playing mum on one Beauty and Geek question

THE 'beard' that took Jason Newell two months to grow was removed in one clean sweep in Thursday night's Beauty and the Geek makeover episode.

"I tried to grow a beard, there was a little bit of hair - what one guy gets in a week, I grew in two months," he said with a laugh.

While the removal of Jason's growth wasn't as drastic a transformation as some of his fellow geeks, it was a step towards his cut and polish makeover.

"I was really excited, for me on the show having the makeover was one of the most important things, to get a makeover was a major drawcard," he said.

The anticipation of Jason's makeover amplified last week with the reveal of Dane and Cody's new looks after they won the challenge.

This left Jason, Rich, Chard and Yiran to step up to the fashionable plate.

"I think Dane looks really good, Cody is hardly recognisable. If that's what's in for those guys, bring on the makeovers for the rest of us," Jason said.

"It was pretty interesting, I'm glad my makeover was with the rest of the guys."

"I look pretty cool," he confessed.

"They did a good look for me, I didn't have a beard so it's not that big of a change."

So has Jason kept up his new look?

"When I got out now, I change my clothes. I do the hairstyle, some of the styles work but my hair's a bit long for that now," he said.

Jason has revelled in watching himself on TV and said it was interesting to see how he would be portrayed in the final edit.

"You said so many things and wonder what they'll use," he said.

"But that's me, so I'm pretty happy with that.

"I like watching myself on TV, doing my things."

Having bonded with his fellow contestants better than expected, especially the beauties, Jason has struggled with nominations.

"You become so close with them, living with them 24/7, we're always talking with each other and you form friendships over a couple of months," he said.

"The geeks are the same type of people as you and the beauties are great, I would have never had interaction with those people before, getting advice from the girls.

"It's the best experience of my life, so much fun to meet so many good guys and nice girls, the whole experience has seen my confidence increase a lot more, I'm more outgoing.

"I was really surprised, I thought a challenge is a challenge, I'm happy with how it turned out."

Jason said he is occasionally recognised when he's out, surprisingly by more guys than gals.

"The main three questions are, 'did you have fun?', 'are the beauties really that dumb?', 'did you root any of them?'"

While he admitted some of the beauties played up for the cameras, Jason remained tight lipped on the final question.

"I'm not going to answer that one."
