World reacts: ‘Horn will be overwhelmed’

JEFF Horn has successfully retained his WBO welterweight world title but is already the subject of the 'underdog tag' as his next opponent becomes clearer.

Horn is likely to come up against Terence Crawford in Las Vegas next year; the American considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, a former two-weight world champion (lightweight, light-welterweight) who is moving up a division.

The payday would likely dwarf the $1 million Horn received for his first title defence.

Crawford himself reacted on Twitter after watching the fight on replay, after it aired very early on Wednesday morning US time.

Horn admitted after the bout that he had plenty to prove in America, which reacted with disbelief to his win over Manny Pacquiao earlier this year.

"Yeah, there is a lot to prove to a lot of the Americans," Horn said. "There's always going to be the doubters. All I can do is keep winning, that's the key - hopefully I can start changing people's minds one by one."

The Aussie's class shone through after a difficult start on Wednesday night, with challenger Gary Corcoran creating more drama than was previously expected.

The fight was stopped in the 11th round, with Corcoran's camp throwing in the towel.

And despite the doubters already speaking up over Horn's chances in his next title fight, the Aussie was once again commended for another gutsy win.
