Jemima ready to ace Warwick comp

AFTER winning the Noosa Tournament in her age group two weeks ago, Warwick player Jemima Fraser is going into the Warwick Credit Union Southern Downs Junior Tennis Tournament this weekend with plenty of confidence.

Jemima has nominated for the under-12 singles and doubles and will head the Warwick contingent at the association courts in Fitzroy Street.

There are 80 nominations for the event, which was postponed from earlier in the year due to rain during play..

The new timeslot has meant nominations are lower than when the tournament was originally scheduled.

This weekend's tournament is the first of three major tournaments in three months in Warwick, the others are in September and October, a junior masters tournament and an Australian Money Tournament.

Warwick Tennis Association president Matt Fraser said the Australian Money Tournament would attract some of the nation's top juniors, particularly those in transition to the professional ranks, as well as some of the best open players in the country.

The money tournament will be the highest profile open tournament to be held in Warwick for more than a decade.
