Joyce heads for Liston

THE Liston Hall's Heritage afternoon and bush dance on Saturday is right on track to be a fun filled and interesting event.

Commencing at 3pm Queensland time, there will be market stalls, vintage cars and machinery displays, a free sausage sizzle and soft drink, free billy tea and damper and games for the kids.

Member for New England Barnaby Joyce will be in attendance and has been asked to unveil a replica Cobb & Co coach (built from scratch by local resident John Burton).

The evening will see a free camp oven dinner and free admission to a bush dance with the music supplied by Band O Coot.

The bar will be operating and there is also a raffle in support of raising funds to build a display building in the Liston Park to house the coach. Voluntary donations are also able to be accepted.

"The Drought Communities Programme is providing sponsorship for the day and farmers are encouraged to come along and talk to the representatives from the relevant government departments and the Salvation Army who will be in attendance to obtain support, assistance and advice," organiser Patricia Crome said

"The drought has hit everyone in the community hard and the organisers are hoping that this event will help promote some happiness and alleviate some of the stresses being felt," she said.
