Jumpers and Jazz brings back an iconic pub

THE southern end of Palmerin St will be in full swing for Jumpers and Jazz as the Palace Hotel returns to the scene.

The old pub is hosting a pop-up jazz bar every night during the festival.

Event co-ordinator Lyndall McCormack wanted to bring the iconic building back to life and add an extra element to the festival.

"Jumpers and Jazz has such a brilliant atmosphere. I wanted to contribute more to the line-up of entertainment," Mrs McCormack said.

"The Palace Hotel is a prominent building in the main street and with hundreds of people in town every day, it would be nice to have a place to drop in where it's warm."

Mrs McCormack is working tirelessly co-ordinating the entertainment and food and giving the building a once-over, in readiness for the festival.

"There's lots of people in town who want to be a part of the festival, so I've had heaps of help," she said.

Local musician David Mulliss will be serenading the crowds with live piano at the pop-up bar and is excited to perform for Jumpers and Jazz.

"It's a great way for local artists to meet and perform with other high-level musicians ", Mr Mulliss said.

Also booked for the Palace gig is local band Sleeping Dogs. Vocalist Jonno Colfs said the venue was a great spot for live music and casual drinks.

The pop-up bar has no cover charges, and will serve a variety of wines and beers and tapas-style food every day from 5pm till late.
