Juniors flock to netball sign-on
KEEN young netball rising stars took over the downstairs area at Rose City Shoppingworld on Saturday eager to sign up for another great season.
Ten-year-old Mia Loudon was excited to start her first netball season with the Warwick and District Netball Association as a wing attack or defence after developing a love for the sport at school.
“It’s so much fun and I get to meet new friends,” Mia said.
Warwick netball mums were kept busy as plenty of new and current netball stars lined up to put their names down for another season and secretary Linda Bunch couldn’t have been happier.
“It’s really great. We were really busy with heaps of new players to the club, which is great,” Bunch said.
“We are hoping to get 200 players this season and had 170 at the end of the sign-on.”
The season starts on February 27 and players are able to join up until March 6. Games are played every Saturday until grand final day on September 4 for ages five to 14 years.
Bunch said it was great sport to get involved in for fitness and exercise, which was always important for the girls.
“We encourage sportsmanship, team spirit and fun,” she said.
For more information on joining or if you are a parent who wants to help out, contact Bunch on 0407 734 380.
All players who paid their nomination fees by Saturday are in the running for a season pass to all Queensland Firebirds home games this season in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.
