Warwick Cowboys hooker wins Price–Webcke Medal

RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick hooker Justin Croft and Pittsworth second-rower Mitchell Carpenter are joint winners of the 2015 Price-Webcke Medal for A-grade Player of the Year in the Toowoomba Rugby League.

The trophies for all TRL awards were presented at last night's presentations at Rumours International.

They are the first joint winners of the honour since Travis White and Eugene Seddon shared the honour back in 2008.

Carpenter has been a leading light for Pittsworth the past few years but was unable to help the Danes reach the finals this year as they finished sixth.

Justin Croft was a tireless worker for Warwick this season as the Cowboys reached the first week of the finals.

He first rose to prominence in rugby league at Inglewood when he made the Queensland primary school side and later won a premiership with Brothers in Toowoomba.

This season he joined the Cowboys under captain- coach Matt Gainey after the pair first played league together at Inglewood.

Justin is the son of Warren Croft, who was halfback for the first Warwick A-grade premiership win in the TRL in 1987.

One thing in common between father-and-son on the footy field was their work ethic: Neither stopped tackling.

The McGovern-O'Shea Medal for reserve-grade player of the year was shared by Wattles pair Matt McCarthy and Dale McAntee.

Wattles half Matt Duggan was the top points-scorer in A grade.

Warwick reserve-grade lock Mitch McMahon was presented with the award for most points in reggies.

On the night, Warwick was also presented with the TRL Club Championship trophy, after strong performances this season by the under-18, reserve and A-grade teams.

Second-division and women's league tag points are not considered as some clubs only have the three teams.
