Justin O'Neill adds to list of national sports reps
SPORTSVIEW with Gerard Walsh
WARWICK can lay claim to another Australian representative following the selection of Justin O'Neill in the Australian Kangaroos squad in rugby league.
If I call up Wikipedia, Justin comes up as born on April 4, 1991, at Warwick, Queensland, Australia.
He was only in Warwick as a baby but can be our Warwick connection in the Australian team.
Even though he was only here for a year, I was surprised by the number of hits on our online story on Justin when he was selected for his State of Origin debut this year.
The family lived at Tannymorel while his father Sean O'Neill was merchandise manager at Dalgety Winchcombe in Warwick.
Matt at Bathurst
I HAVE never watched a lot of the Bathurst 1000 but reckon I will not miss it this Sunday for two reasons: Matt Campbell is driving and I am on holidays for a fortnight.
It is unbelievable how Matt has gone from Morgan Park to Bathurst in only a few years.
He is already at Bathurst this week preparing for both the Porsche Carrera Cup and V8 Supercars.
Good hand and eye co-ordination must be needed in both motorsport and hockey as Matt played for five years for Darling Downs school hockey team at the same time he was launching a motorsport career.
Beattie comes home
PARALYMPIC bronze medallist Carlee Beattie is back in Australia from Rio and planning to head back to Warwick to catch up with family and friends.
It;s great to see her so upbeat about her second Paralympic medal and eyeing off more success in the future.
Maddy off to US
WELL done to Warwick State High School student Maddy Ross who has been selected to play in an Australian futsal team in America next year.
She was one of four Warwick High students who played in last week's nationals in Brisbane.
You can just add one more to the long list of students from Warwick High to make it to a national team.
