Kate rides to Doomben for off the track promotion
EQUESTRIAN: Year 12 Scots PGC student Kate Sexton and her horse Ivy Bank Billionaire have been invited to compete in The Magic Millions Triequithon on April 2 at Doomben Racecourse.
This event is to highlight the versatility of the Off the Track thoroughbred horse. Sexton and her horse, which raced as What About Billy, have been competing in eventing and interschool equestrian events and are now at one-star eventing level.
The combination competed at the Prydes Easifeed National Inter-school Championships in Sydney in 2015.
The Doomben competition will take the format of a one-star event and will be run under the EA Eventing Rules from 1 January, 2016. The organisers reserve the right to alter the rules as necessary to facilitate conducting an abbreviated one-star event during a race meeting.
Dressage will be an abbreviated one-star test over two minutes on the grass arena adjacent to the track between races one and three. Cross country will be held on the St Ledger Lawn at Doomben Racecourse between races three and five on a short course for two to three minutes.
Showjumping will be a level 1 competition on the lawn between races six and eight.
Last week, Olympic coach Heath Ryan was in town for two days coaching equestrian students at Scots PGC. Sexton had two lessons under the direction of Ryan.
