THERE were plenty of signs opposing coal seam gas mining as Katter's Australian Party leader Bob Katter arrived at O'Mahony's Hotel in Warwick to address a crowd of 80 last night.

Earlier in the day, Mr Katter visited Stanthorpe with state leader Aidan McLindon and candidate for Southern Downs Ade Larsen.

Mr Katter said a big issue of the election was re-regulation of the dairy industry.

"The price of milk to farmers was 59 cents a litre and it dropped to 41 cents the day after de-regulation," Mr Katter said.

"I resigned from the National Party a year or two after de-regulation of the dairy industry."

He said a burning issue in the state election campaign was coal seam gas.

"The LNP is on the wrong side of the fence. They will drill through the aquifer," Mr Katter said.

"Contrary to what has been said, I restored the permit to enter in 1989.

"The Mining Council of Australia moved a motion of no confidence in me at the time."

Mr Katter said his party delivered the last nail in the ALP State Government yesterday with its announcement in Brisbane that it would not support an ALP government in the event of a hung parliament.

In answer to a question about his party's chances in the Southern Downs electorate, Mr Katter said local MLA Lawrence Springborg had spent a lot of time playing the party game in Brisbane.

"His party squeezed the trigger on deregulation which blew us away," Mr Katter said.

Last night at O'Mahony's, Mr Larsen spoke first and was followed by Mr McLindon and Mr Katter.
