Katter runs grazier as Maranoa candidate
KATTER'S Australia Party are entering the battle for Maranoa, endorsing a candidate for July's Federal Election.
Charleville grazier Rick Gurnett will be the fifth candidate contesting the seat of Maranoa.
The KAP candidate originally ran for pre-selection for the LNP.
Mr Gurnett said while he doesn't have the shiniest brochure, he has life experience.
"Western Queensland is facing a crisis at present, and the people of Maranoa need a strong voice of representation," he said.
" I have a strong sense of pride for the Maranoa and believe my vast array of life experiences and lessons learnt along the way have given me a strong understanding of many of the problems the people of the Maranoa are facing."
Mr Gurnett intends to visit the Southern Downs on the campaign trail.
