Keepers get tips from the very best

GOALKEEPERS are now in a league of their own with a specialised goalkeeping academy on the cards for Stanthorpe.

Set up by former goalkeeper John Garside and Michael Theo it creates an opportunity for young and developing keeps to experience what goalkeeper coaching should be like in order to develop them to their highest potential.

Garside not only played professionally but he has been coaching goalkeepers for 30 years, and for the last seven has work with Fernando Alves as Brisbane Roar assistant goalkeeping coach.

Just4Keepers has academies in 16 countries and is looking to set up more in regional areas of Queensland.

A regional network will develop and identify talented goalkeepers, many of whom may be the potential to play at higher levels.
