Keeping player’s injuries taped up

IT'S the tape recommended by physiotherapists, used by sporting greats and now it's available to protect local players from injuring themselves.

Kinesiology Tape is a product avid Warwick sports fan Tim Gaske has been researching for some time, and when the opportunity came to market the product locally - he took it.

The junior football coach, who has been involved in sport for most of his life, said using the tape would help prevent sports injuries.

"It allows movement without overexerting or causing injury - it's a proactive form of support," he said.

"The old strapping tape on the other hand is reactive, meaning it helps existing injuries."

Sports injuries are no stranger to the owner of Kinesio King, who used to play representative football before injury forced him to retire.

"I've had nine operations on my knee and ankles," he said.

"Maybe if this stuff was around when I was younger I might not have injured myself."

The tape, sourced from China, is almost identical to human skin in both it's thickness and elasticity.

"I've been talking with local physios, chiropractors, podiatrists and sports clubs about it," Mr Gaske said.

"I've had emails from people in Roma, Dalby and Toowoomba enquiring about it."

Mr Gaske will be doing an order of the Kinesio Tape this weekend, and is encouraging local sports players to try the product.

"Have a look at the product and go see a local physio or sports strapper," he said.

"It's better to prevent injury than to sustain it."

The tape starts at just $3.30 per roll, and can be ordered by phoning Tim on 0434 211 441.
