Kent Wells to be guest speaker at annual junior sports star dinner on March 21
SPORTS STAR: Kent Wells will be able to talk about the fierce rivalry between Australia and South Africa in sport as guest speaker at the Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Junior Sports Star of the Year dinner on March 21.
Wells and his family live near Boonah after he first played polocrosse on the Southern Downs.
He has played polocrosse for Australia, coached the national team and is a long serving Warwick club member and hard-working volunteer.
Last year, Wells was assistant to coach Troy Henry as Australia came third in the Polocrosse World Cup in South Africa.
Australia and South Africa have won two world cups each and the rivalry between the countries is similar in polocrosse to cricket and rugby union.
The sports star dinner will highlight the outstanding performances of all 12 junior sports star monthly winners from 2015.
The dinner will also highlight the work of the Condamine Sports Club Volunteer of the Year nominees, who have the chance to win $500 for their club as the overall winner.
More nominations welcome to gerardw@ warwickdailynews.com.au, phone 46601313.
Dinner tickets on sale now at the Daily News.
