Kia graduates with top gong

WARWICK'S Kia George attended the University of Southern Queensland Toowoomba graduation ceremony on Saturday, April 26.

Kia was presented with a Bachelor of Education, degree, awarded with distinction.

She was also presented with a University Medal.

The University Medal is the university's most prestigious award, and is awarded to a small number of graduates whose academic performance in the graded courses of the program studied has been consistently of the highest order.

Those students who receive the award are also those who have displayed high levels of independent and critical thought, and effective communication.

Kia attended Warwick State High School where she was school captain, dux and Student of the Year in 2008.

She took a year off from study and worked at the Killarney Co-Op, before setting out to pursue her chosen career as a primary school teacher.

She is currently teaching year 4 at Roma State College.

Kia's husband, Hayden George, her parents Peter and Alison Sowden, her brother Kyle Sowden and her mother-in-law, Glenda George, were there to help her celebrate her special day.
