Kids take a stand against bullies
WARWICK East students yesterday co-ordinated their best orange shirts with their most comfortable walking shoes for a day of fundraising and friendship.
Younger students trekked a total of 5km and older students 10km, to raise money for their individual classes, sporting orange accessories in support of National Day of Action against Bullying.
Year 7 teacher Michael Sullivan said the school always took a tough stance against bullying but this week the issue was highlighted.
"Our Strive policy is about tolerance and respect and we like to focus on anti-bullying," he said.
Mr Sullivan said the teachers had been working hard with the students during the week with anti-bullying activities, such as colouring in and group talks.
He said it was also great to see many of the older students taking younger kids under their wing at the event.
Year 6 student Hayley Bennett guided Year 2 student Holly Alder around the walkathon course and Hayley said she liked taking care of her younger best friend.
