Kids lap up spring weather

WEARING colourful swimming costumes, goggles and caps, children splash and laugh at the WIRAC pool.

While some power up and down the lanes, others are happy just to wade in the shallow areas.

Signalling the start of swimming season, hoards of school children took to the water yesterday to get back into the stroke of their favourite sport.

St Mary's Primary School pupil Anisja Kuziw said she "loved swimming".

"It cools you down on hot days. It's better than school because you don't have to do any work," she said.

The Year 2 pupil said she liked doing backstroke the best and loved classes with her WIRAC swimming instructor, Ellie.

Sharing the pool were Severnlea State School swimmers Emmalee King and Jessie Johnstone, who said they too loved to swim.
