Warwick High kids saddle up for Heritage Week rodeo ride

SOUTHERN Downs Heritage Week kicks off with a dusty grunt tonight when the Heritage Week Concreters Bull Ride bounds onto the indoor arena at the Rodeo Heritage Centre.

The doors will open at 5pm, for a 6pm start.

Raffles are also being run throughout the night and the judges will be handing out prizes for best dressed cowboy and cowgirl under seven years of age.

Australian Professional Rodeo Association office manager Karen Burraston said they are very proud to be kicking off this year's Heritage Festival after hosting the launch party last night.

"All funds raised (tonight) will go towards funding the Rodeo Heritage Centre itself and the Warwick High School's rodeo program," she said.

"The kids from the Warwick High School's Rodeo program practise here every second Wednesday and this is their chance on the big stage."

Admission will be $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for students and children, $25 for a family ticket and kids under five are free.

Those heading along tonight will also have a chance to meet reigning Warwick Rodeo Queen Georgie Stower, Warwick Rodeo Princess Tracey Madsen and Junior Cowgirl Savannah Halley.
