Killarney and Inglewood have most in Border Bushrangers
RUGBY LEAGUE: Seven players from both Killarney and Inglewood clubs will play in the Border Rugby League Bushrangers team in the South West trials at Miles on April 8.
There are also four players from Tenterfield in the side, including captain-coach Brendan Minns, and Stanthorpe player Gary Skimmings.
Killarney co-coach Ray Wagner said he was happy to see seven of his players in the Border side.
"I hope they come through without injuries but the representative games should improve their confidence,” he said.
"The inclusion of the Watts brothers, Brett and Jamie, has boosted our team this season and they could make more representative teams. Brett Lambert plays good footy all the time and Brent Humphries is really fit and will impress in the front row for the Bushrangers.”
Warwick-based Ian Brown is a Killarney player in the team along with former Goondiwindi player Josh Drennert and young gun Jacob Polzin from Killarney, one of the Polzin twins who starred as juniors at Eastern Suburbs.
Bushrangers captain-coach Brent Osborne heads the Inglewood players in the team. Some of the Inglewood seven hail from Millmerran.
After a win in the round robin last weekend and premiership success last season, Osborne will be relying heavily on the players from Inglewood when they get to the trials.
The squad will train at Inglewood on April 7 at 7pm and stay the night in the town before heading the next day to Miles for the trials.
BRL president Norm Crisp said club presidents had to confirm by April 3 that their players were available.
"Any players who pulls out after that date will face a two-game suspension from club fixtures,” Crisp said.
